Shalom Hartman Israel Program

Dates: December 25, 2018 – January 1st, 2019

The application can be found here. Read below for more information, or email with questions.

Israel has become a polarizing topic in contemporary Jewish life, resulting in alienation between Israeli and North American Jews.

The growing disenchantment with Israel among members of the Jewish community is felt particularly strongly on college campuses, where Jewish students and campus professionals find themselves pressured by board members, funders, external organizations, and non-Jewish groups on campus.

Recognizing the importance of providing resources, content, and training to multiple aspects of the campus community, the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America provides an expanding range of programmatic offerings which support the growth of values-based conversations about Israel on campuses across North America.

Be one of ten Hopkins students to join 100 student leaders from campuses across North America for a week of learning, guest speakers, cultural events, and field trips around Jerusalem.

Highlights Include:

  • Lectures with top Hartman scholars like Donniel Hartman, Tal Becker, and Yossi Klein HaLevi
  • Engaging with pluralistic students from across the country
  • Connecting with other Hopkins Students who care about deeply exploring Israel’s challenges

Dates: December 25, 2018 – January 1st, 2019

Cost: The program cost is $750. Flights will be reimbursed by Hopkins Hillel up to $1000, and participants are responsible for booking their own flights and getting themselves to Jerusalem.
